Mackay Regional Council is currently in search of a dedicated and enthusiastic administration officers for our Development Support team. In the position of Development Support Officer, you will provide professional and high-quality support to Development Planning, Engineering & Compliance and Plumbing, Trade Waste & Backflow Programs.
Open positions:
1 x Permanent Full-time – 9 day fortnight RDO
1 x Temporary Full-time (April 2024 – April 2025) – 9 day fortnight RDO
1 x Temporary Part-time Job share (22 hours a week until January 2025)
These opportunities provide an excellent chance to gain exposure and hands-on experience in a wide range of Development Support activities within the Council.
About the role:
As a Development Support Officer, your role involves assisting internal stakeholders, external consultants and other industry partners, and the broader public, addressing a diverse range of development matters. You will be responsible for administering various applications relevant to the building and planning industry, in accordance with service level agreements (SLA), Council policies, procedures and statutory regulations.
Skills and Experience:
Have the ability to work in a fast paced, multi-skilled team environment;
Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times, be flexible in your approach and adapt to the fast paced environment;
Have good time management skills and a positive resilient attitude with a desire to work hard;
Contribute to achieving team objectives, work effectively as a team member and provide assistance to other team members as necessary to contribute to a multi-skilled environment; and
Have a demonstrated minimum two years experience in a similar administrative support role (applicants who possess previous work experience in Town Planning, Local Government, Plumbing, Backflow Prevention, Trade Waste, Engineering or a Legal Environment will be highly regarded).
