The Opportunity
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 4 Digital Content & Retail Assistant within Parliamentary Engagement Branch to support the Digital Content delivery and retail operations of the Parliament Shop.
The role will provide administrative and operational support to the E-commerce and Product Development team which oversees the Parliament Shop (onsite and online) and develops new product lines for sale.
The role will be responsible for writing copy for social media and web, product photography and filming video content, inventory management, and providing customer service and sales assistance in the Parliament Shop.
Who we are looking for
The successful candidate will be able to support the strategic direction of the Parliament Shop retail strategy by delivering quality Digital Content and efficient administrative support to promote the vision to nurture enduring confidence in, and appreciation for, Australia's parliament and democracy.
The candidate will also have well-developed communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a range of colleagues and stakeholders both verbally and in writing, be confident using digital platforms and have retail customer service skills.
Duties will include assisting with the creation of Digital Content for the Parliament Shop's e-marketing and social media platforms, assisting with product development and inventory management and general shop operations.
Job Specific Requirements:
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Immediate supervisor: Assistant Director, Digital Engagement
Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 4 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Assist with development of Digital Content for Parliament Shop's e-marketing and social media platforms in accordance with the Australian Government Style Manual. This may include copy, product photography for website listings and video to drive visitation, engagement and sales.
2. Engaging with relevant internal and external stakeholders to create Digital Content and deliver outstanding customer service.
3. Assist in uploading and publishing of e-commerce content, including accurate tagging for internal searching, analytics and search engine optimisation (Shopify experience highly regarded)
4. Generating reports and recording data for Parliament Shop's e-marketing and social media channels.
5. Assist with inventory management, including purchasing stock, stocktakes, goods receiving and storage of products.
6. Support the Parliament Shop through working rostered shifts in the Shop and providing customer service including answering enquires, promoting products, undertaking point of sale transactions and gift wrapping.
7. Assist with developing e-commerce procedures and manuals.

Currently, the salary range for this position is $74,730 - $81,202 per annum.
Conditions of Employment
Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
- Australian citizenship - to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- Security clearance and character clearance - the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
- Health assessment - a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
