This newly created role based in Melbourne forms part of a global Investment Stewardship team and will act as a safeguard to promote long term investment returns on behalf managed equity funds and their investors. This will be achieved by promoting governance practices that are associated with long-term investment returns at the companies in which the funds invest (Australia & Asia focus).
Specifically this will involve:
- Engaging with portfolio company directors and executives to learn about companies’ corporate governance practices and to share perspectives on corporate governance practices associated with long-term investment returns.
- Voting proxies at portfolio company shareholder meetings based on each fund’s proxy voting policies and guidelines.
- Promoting corporate governance practices associated with long-term investment returns through published materials and participation in industry events and initiatives.
Candidate Experience
- Degree qualified in a business or finance discipline with post graduate qualifications preferred.
- Minimum 10 years' relevant experience spanning institutional investment management, investor relations, governance, policy and ESG.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including high levels of comfort engaging with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
- People leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
