This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to lead monitoring and results measurement in the Market Development Facility (MDF), Australia's pioneering an impactful program to support business innovation in Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, and Vanuatu.

The MERL Director (internally known as RIMI - Research, Impact Measurement, and Inclusion) is a key leadership role and a pivotal member of MDF's Leadership Team, responsible for:
× the technical guidance, quality assurance and oversight of MDFs monitoring and results measurement system, including oversight of the management information system.
× ensuring rigour in the projections and results from all MDF countries are accurately aggregated and contribute to the preparation of annual plans and reports.
× technical oversight and capacity development of the RIMI team across the Facility, consisting of approximately ten people including country RIMI teams and Facility-wide RIMI Specialists.
× providing support to country teams to understand, integrate and implement gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) in all areas of MDF's work, as well as wider cross-cutting issues that influence the quality of impact (e.g. climate change, food security).
× contributing to MDF's learning and communications agenda, building capacity and fostering a culture of learning and adaptation.
About You
The ideal candidate will bring the curiosity, capability, and experience to oversee MDF's qualitative and quantitative research framework, ideally with experience in private sector development across multi-country settings. Excellent critical analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to translate complex information into succinct and accessible content are needed, as is familiarity with the DCED Standard for Results Measurement and/or DFAT M&E standards. This is an exciting yet demanding opportunity that requires extensive travel (approximately 10-12 weeks per year).

The Market Development Facility (MDF) is an Australian Government-funded multi-country initiative that promotes sustainable development in its partner countries.
We work with businesses, government and other organisations to identify and develop profitable and scalable business opportunities that help reduce poverty, empower women economically and combat climate change. We currently operate in Fiji, Timor-Leste, Samoa, Vanuatu, Tonga and Sri Lanka.
MDF is funded by the Australia Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and is implemented by Palladium, in partnership with Swisscontact.
