About the Company:
Unidex Healthcare are a privately owned recruitment company established in 2001 and operate across Australia, with our main offices in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. Unidex actively recruit for all areas in the healthcare field specialising in Disability Services, Support Services and Allied Health.
The Role:
We are currently looking for Disability Support Workers and Nurses to work with a male participant in his mid 20's based in Mareeba, QLD. Our participant sustained a Spinal Cord Injury from a motor vehicle accident. As a result of the accident, the participant has limited functional mobility in his lower body, but is able to use his wheelchair and transfer himself independently. Our participant lives at home with his mother, younger brother and young daughter. This is a casual ongoing position with no end date in sight; we can offer part-time or full-time hours.
The current care plan in place requires assistance over 2x shifts of care within a 24-hour period Monday through to Sunday with inactive sleepovers. The shift times are as follows:
- Morning shift will be (8:00am - 4:00pm)
- Afternoon shift will be (5:00pm - 9:00pm) + Inactive overnight shift
Successful candidates will be provided full training and upskilling with our clinical support team.
Pay Rates:
· Day - $43.00 per hour
· Evening - $47.50 per hour
· Saturday - $61.00 per hour
· Sunday - $79.00 per hour
· Inactive Sleepover - $100.00 per shift + 2 hours at night shift rate
- Travel Allowance $0.96 per kilometre (applies when transporting to/from medical related appointments only)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assistance with personal care
- Completing skin checks
- Bowel therapy
- Catheter care and changes
- Assist to setup / meal preparation and cleaning up afterwards
- Assistance with domestic tasks (e.g. laundry, clean toilet, clean floor etc)
- Parenting assistance
- Parenting assistance (Participant to be present at all times)
- Daily Monitoring & Reporting of his current health conditions
- Companionship & Capacity Building
Skills & Experiences:
- Previous experience working with spinal cord injuries
- Australian Driver Licence
- Current National Police Clearance
- Current NDIS Screening Card or Yellow Card
- Current Blue Card
- First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Reliable, proactive and positive attitude
