ABOUT THE ROLE - Why we need a Drafting, Technical & Quality Officer 

As we continue to grow, we are actively investing in our people, systems & processes. We are committed to being progressive & delivering innovative product solutions.

Due to our strong reputation we have a high work load. We are looking for an experienced Drafting, Technical & Quality Officer for long term work.

All work takes place at T.W. Woods site at Tomago.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Job Assessment

• Review all work packs and scope requirements with Estimators and Production Managers
• Review Drawings and Nesting Requirements
• Assess delivery requirements and timelines
• Assess Job construction methodologies
• Support appropriate allocation of labour
• Produce Work Instructions as required for each job

Quality Control

• Ensure technical documentation is maintained for ISO 9001 as required
• Manage Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) laboratory bookings and paperwork
• Draft for submission to clients all contract deliverable documentation as required:
• Quality Plans, ITP’s, Weld Procedures, Technical Specifications, Protective Coating Records, Photos MDR, etc. 
• Training of relevant personnel to build internal expertise

Documentation Management

• Compile Manufacturers Data Records (MDR) into a smart pdf with bookmarks for navigation
• Fabrication & Weld Procedure documentation
• Draft the record & specification to the relevant standard
• Work with the Welder undertaking the test piece to achieve a test piece that represents what is required on the job

Technical Supervision

• Guidance and Support with Industry experience for Direct Reports and Profile Machine Operator

Collaboration

• Liaise with Management and Production team closely to ensure successful production of all jobs
• From time to time additional responsibilities may be included in order to benefit the progress of the business. All employees are expected to work as a team to achieve the company goals and occasionally perform tasks outside their normal roles.

Systems

• Ensure the maintenance and continuous update of the business management system by following all business processes.

Estimating

• Estimating skills and experience would be beneficial to the role.

Skills and experience in the following areas will be highly regarded:

• Several years of real-life experience in manufacturing/construction environment as a Drafting, Technical & Quality Officer.
