DRIVER TRAINER

DonWatson Transport is a leading refrigerated logistics company offering a diverserange of transport and refrigerated storage solutions. We are currently lookingto employ a Driver Trainer in our Derrimut Depot. This role is a full-timesalary based role, Monday to Friday, with requirement to be available onweekends where required.
This role isprimarily responsible for the assessment, selection, induction, and training ofDrivers (new and established), and to ensure Drivers understand and comply withall Health and Safety requirements including compliance with Fatigue Managementand Safe Driving Principles and Protocols.
The role is alsoresponsible for understanding the supply and demand of labour resources(Drivers -including Local, Interstate, Shuttle and Casual) and to work withManagers and other teams to meet operational requirements. This position will act as a communicationpoint for all Drivers within the business with a key focus on Melbourne.
Principal Tasks and Accountabilities
- Identifyrequired labour resources (Drivers) for efficient and effective businessoperations
- Interviewingand assessing the competency of candidates for Truck Driving positions
- Orientatingnew employees (focus on drivers) to the organization through the structuredinduction processes
- Ensuringall drivers are aware and are compliant with company policies and proceduresand assist the company to maintain current and new accreditations ie TruckSafe,NHVAS etc.
- MonitorDrivers to ensure compliance with Fatigue Management and Safe DrivingPrinciples and Protocols
- Liaise withthe Compliance Department to ensure on-going Compliance with all requiredpolicies, procedures, acts, and regulations
- Liaise withother Department to ensure a streamlined approach to new Drivers entering thebusiness

Required Skills,Knowledge, & Experience
- Open MCLicense is mandatory
- Extensive experience in driving trucks(interstate will be highly regarded)
- Ability tolead and manage people and processes
- A strong understanding of Fatigue Management and Safe Driving Principles
- Refrigerated Transport experience would be anadvantage
- Ability toestablish and maintain strong and productive working relationships.
- Goodcommunication and interpersonal skills
- Ability toachieve high quality results by taking a shared responsibility for settingpriorities, organising workloads, and meeting prescribed or self-imposeddeadlines.
- Good senseof humour with a positive outlook
Qualificationsin Frontline Management or Equivalent level of experience would be wellregarded. Prior experience in a similar role ispreferred.
