Eating Disorders Service Lead- Adolescent Medicine:

- Full Time Parental Leave cover from 20th April 2024 till 17th March 2025
This is a Full time, Fixed Term Parental Leave position at 76 hours per fortnight within the Department of Adolescent Medicine.
You will be responsible for driving service transformation in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team including supporting the design, implementation and coordination of research/evaluation projects and providing leadership and coordination of the specialist mental health Eating Disorders team. You will provide and lead high quality and evidence based outpatient clinical care to adolescents and their families with restrictive Eating Disorders.
Classification for this position will range from Grade 4 year 1 to Grade 4 year 4 for Psychologists, Social Worker and occupational Therapist applicants.
What you'll achieve:
- Provide excellent evidence-based practice and specialised outpatient clinical care to adolescents with restrictive Eating Disorders as part of the multidisciplinary team and per the Eating Disorders Service model.
- Manage a complex and varied clinical caseload.
- Empower staff to identify, analyse, report and manage risks and support staff who raise concerns about risk or patient safety.
- Maintain clinical documentation, records and data as per discipline specific guidelines and RCH procedures.
- Complete mandatory client contacts, outcome measures and report activity levels (statistics) to support team/s meeting KPI obligations.
- Tertiary Qualification and post graduate qualification (or undertaking a post graduate course in child and/or adolescent mental health, family therapy or clinical psychology) or equivalent in relevant discipline along with several years' clinical experience with some leadership experience.
- Proven capacity for leadership in a team environment and ability to work well as a senior team member.
- Current Registration as an Occupational Therapist or Psychologist with the applicable Health Practitioner Board or a qualified social worker.
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and behaviours in successfully leading multidisciplinary teams and/or change initiatives. - Desired
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working in true partnership with other community mental health teams and community/family welfare agencies to plan and implement effective interventions for young people experiencing complex Eating Disorders. - Desire
- Current Registration with AHPRA, this means full registration and endorsement as a Clinical or Health Psychologist with the Psychology Registration Board of Australia
- At least 8 years of post-graduate experience from an accredited course/university
- APAC approved masters level postgraduate training in clinical or health psychology
- Holds current Board Approval as a Supervisor (“postgraduate student” and “registrar program”) with the Psychology Board of Australia
- Continuously satisfy the PBA continuing professional development standards
- Uphold the PBA Code of Ethics
- Recognised graduate-entry qualification in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor, Masters or Doctorate)
- Registered to practice as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Eligibility for membership with Occupational Therapy Australia
- Post-graduate qualification relevant to role at Master or PhD level (or significant completion towards)
- Hold a degree in Social Work from an accredited course/university.
- Be eligible for membership of the AASW.
- Meet AASW accreditation standards for Continuing Professional Education.
- Uphold the AASW Code of Ethics.
About the Department:
The Department of Adolescent Medicine, Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne, is a multidisciplinary specialty department providing inpatient and outpatient care to adolescents experiencing both physical and mental health concerns. Sub-speciality teams within the Department of Adolescent Medicine include the Eating Disorders Service, specialising in treating adolescents with anorexia nervosa and other restrictive Eating Disorders, the Gender Service who assist children and adolescents experiencing gender dysphoria, The Transition Support Service providing care in transition from paediatric to adult health providers, the Young People's Health Service who provide primary health care for marginalised and at risk youth and the Chronic Illness Peer support (ChIPS) team who facilitate peer support, leadership and participation among adolescent and young adults aged 12-25 living with a chronic illness.
