Our client is seeking to engage an EL1 HR Specialist Location: Townsville, QLD Contract Length: up to 6-month contract Eligibility/Security Requirement: Australian Citizenship and Cleared Police Check Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced HR specialist for the role of Assistant Director – People Services to join our dynamic HR team on a temporary basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR with a proven track record in key aspects of the HR function and providing strategic HR support to senior management. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing one or several HR functions such as recruitment, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, HR compliance and/or HR projects. The candidate must be agile and adaptive and able to move between different projects/work tasks. Duties:Apply contemporary, best practice HR knowledge and practice to support the Agency in maintaining a skilled workforce within a changing work environment.Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.Lead, manage and direct all aspects of project management including planning, executing, monitoring, reporting and contract / supplier management.Consult and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to understand current and emerging views and considerations.Undertake research and analysis to inform and provide recommendations.Undertake necessary steps to review and amend policies, procedures and processes as required.Prepare written briefs, communication material and project updates as required to a high standard.Manage associated resources effectively and within budget including staffing and procurement within Commonwealth Procurement guidelines.Contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment within the HR team. Essential requirements: Knowledge of contemporary human resource practices and systems. Desirable qualifications or equivalent experience:Formal qualifications in Human Resources or 3+ years’ experience in HR related role.Project management qualifications or experience managing projects.Experience in a HRIS and recruitment/onboarding platforms and policy development & implementation.Experience in one or more key functional areas within HR (e.g., Recruitment, Learning and Development, Payroll, Employee Relations, or Project Management).
