THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you looking to make a difference to our community every day at work? Our team is on the search for a dedicated and enthusiastic Emergency and Risk Coordinator within our Safety, Emergency and Risk team. You won't just be an employee – you'll be a key player in shaping the safety of our community and oversee the operational risk management of Dubbo Regional Council.
Working across all areas of our organisation, the Emergency and Risk Coordinator maintains and enhances the risk and control environment, to ensure effective management of potential hazards and compliance across a diverse portfolio of planning, infrastructure, community and cultural services, administration, economic development, corporate business and recreational services. You will manage operational risk management projects ensuring Council has in place effective frameworks, systems, policies and procedures to comply with relevant legislation.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the review and maintenance of the Emergency Management Plans, sub-plans, operational procedures, registers, and emergency coordination procedures in accordance with legislation and best practice
- Provide advice and guidance on disaster/emergency management at strategic and operational levels
- Act within a support capacity and Council contact during emergencies or when the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) is activated
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across various operational areas
- Development and maintenance of operational risk management policies, registers, procedures, and other relevant documentation
ABOUT YOU
You are innovative, ambitious, and passionate about Emergency and Risk, desiring to bring others on the risk management journey. You have exceptional communication skills and the ability to build strong, positive relationships with stakeholders. Your expertise in Emergency planning and operational Risk management will be an asset. Proficiency in project management will ensure the successful implementation of strategic initiatives. You are a highly motivated and enthusiastic person who is looking to work in a diverse and professional environment.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE
- Qualifications in Risk Management, Emergency management or related discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience in Risk or Emergency management.
- Proven experience undertaking risk assessment processes to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Experience in conducting audits and inspections to ensure compliance with legislation and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate across all levels within the business.
