The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Engineering team and oversee the engineering function. This role is responsible for the planning and delivery of engineering services at NGV’s current and future facilities including The Fox: NGV Contemporary.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
You will be supporting the Head of Facilities and Security to deliver strategic, professional, innovative and compliant engineering services and projects for the NGV. Other key responsibilities include:
- Leading, managing and motivating the Engineering team, both internal and external, including instilling a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Leading the preparation and management of strategic frameworks for engineering services, including strategic plans, policies, systems, technologies and procedures. Preparing high-level reports and briefing papers for the Council of Trustees, sub-Committees, Executive Management Team and other stakeholders as required.
- Championing environmentally sustainable engineering and building services at the gallery and leading projects and initiatives to reduce the NGV’s carbon footprint, particularly in energy and water usage.
- Effectively managing all outsourced Engineering services, including managing procurements, negotiating contracts and monitoring contractor performance, to ensure exceptional service delivery and value for money for the gallery.
To be successful, you will have a tertiary degree in engineering coupled with a strong record of achievement in a strategic engineering role, responsible for essential, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and VT services in a major facility. You will be able to build team commitment by demonstrating personal conviction, translate organisational strategy into meaningful long-term plans and objectives for own area of responsibility and motivate others to deliver against goals.
You will have the demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of Equal Opportunity, Risk Management, Occupational Health and Safety, and the ability to apply them to work practices. You will also have the demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Building Codes, BIM, Smart Building technology and building management systems.
Prior experience in a public facing environment will be well regarded.
