Elecnor has been contracted to build EnergyConnect, a new 700km transmission line extending from Wagga Wagga NSW to the South Australian border.
This backbone infrastructure will connect customers with more renewable energy enabling a further 4950MW of generation capacity, save NSW customers $180 million a year and create 1,500 new construction jobs in regional NSW.
Construction of EnergyConnect is underway in various locations across the project area.

The Role
To provide advice to project personnel and facilitate the implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plan/s in accordance with the Project requirements and relevant environmental legislation.
This role is a 14/7 roster FIFO opportunity, to be based out of project locations from Wagga Wagga (NSW) through to Robertstown (SA), through the duration of the project. The likely starting point will be Buronga, near Mildura. This would suit someone interested in a FIFO role, or alternatively a local from the area.
Your focus will include:
- Represent Elecnor Australia on all project environmental related matters
- Implement the relevant Environmental Management Plan and associated sub plans
- Assist with preparation of Environmental Work Method Statements to encompass the relevant construction processes
- Ensure contractors’ environmental documentation is reviewed and approved in accordance with the required timeframes
- Conduct environmental surveillance audits ensuring all non-conformances are identified and communicated
- Monitor the required actions from identified non-conformances and ensure contractors are actively closing out matters
- Assist in conjunction with other project personnel the evaluation and selection of subcontractors and suppliers in respect to environmental requirements
- Ensure that measuring, and testing equipment is correctly calibrated, labelled as required and records maintained
- Liaise with contractors’ environmental personnel to ensure ongoing collaborative relationships are maintained
- Assist in the review and approval of contractors’ process control documentation including erosion and sediment control plans
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor Environmental Science, Bachelor Environmental Management, Bachelor Science, Bachelor Environmental Engineer or equivalent
- 2- 5 years’ experience in environmental management and advice in relevant industries i.e., construction, mining and heavy industries
