Athletics Australia (AA) is the governing body for Athletics in this country. It is a National Sporting Organisation whose major partner is the Australian Sports Commission. AA is responsible for all athletics activity, including high performance, participation, coaching, officiating, juniors, para-athletics, domestic and international competition. Athletics Australia has a critical role in leading, fostering and encouraging participation in athletics in Australia and promoting excellence in performance.
Heading towards the 2032 Brisbane Olympics & Paralympics, it is an exciting time to join our Delivery and Partnerships Team, we are currently seeking to recruit an Events & Competitions Coordinator.
About the Role
The Events and Competitions Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of our events, from managing logistics to coordinating volunteers and supporting event time operations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent communication skills, and have a keen eye for detail.

Your core duties will include;
- Oversee logistics for each competition, such as freight, ground transport, accommodation, flights, etc.
- Implement strategies to enhance spectator services and athlete services.
- Source and manage volunteer workforce for all Athletics Australia competitions.
- Assist with competition administration.
- This position will require some domestic travel, after hours and weekend work.
What we are looking for;
We are looking for a self-motivated person who demonstrates a passion for delivering high quality competitions and events, ideally within a sporting environment, along with interpersonal skills.
As an individual you are a creative thinker that can 'think outside the square', highly ambitious, and have a keen interest in the sport.
Ideally you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience including any volunteer roles, in event coordination, logistics management, or related roles, noting that this is an entry level position.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- A keen commitment to clean sport and abiding by AA’s National Integrity Framework suite of policies including the Australian National Anti-doping Policy, Safeguarding Children and Young Persons Policy, and Code of Conduct.
- Hold a current police and working with children check or the ability to obtain prior to the commencement of employment and a current driver's licence.
