Strategic Intelligence and Planning is responsible for the design, development and implementation of best practice approaches, frameworks and guidelines for organisational strategy and ensures compliance with legislative requirements and alignment to government policy. The team works closely with internal and external stakeholders to support alignment of strategic planning and thinking, leads strategic foresight initiatives, including environment and horizon scanning that supports and informs business intelligence to enhance decision making and ensure QFES is able to prepare and respond to changes in the broader disaster and Emergency management environment.
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Intelligence and Planning, you will be a key member of the Strategy Directorate. The role will lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the delivery of advanced analytics and business intelligence capabilities to guide evidence-based decision making in line with the strategic direction of the organisation. This includes the provision of strategies, processes, applications, data, products, technologies and technical architectures which are used to support the collection, analysis, presentation and dissemination of business information.

- Knowledge and experience in delivering and managing business intelligence outcomes at an organisational level.
- Knowledge and experience of using advanced analytics and predictive modelling to drive business insights.
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Leading the development and implementation of best practice approaches, analytical frameworks and guidelines to drive performance management and business intelligence products in line with strategic direction and priorities.
- Provide authoritative and professional advice, analysis and direction in relation to QFES' system issues and solutions.
- Build a strong performance culture within the organisation through the use of qualitative and quantitative evidence bases, including the implementation of advanced analytics and predictive modelling to enhance business intelligence products and insights.
- Work with stakeholders to develop effective solutions to complex systems problems to streamline and integrate datasets across the organisation.
- Liaise, consult and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain effective working relationships and the integrity of system enhancements and solutions.
- Represent the department on committees and working parties with a view to promoting innovation, performance improvement, service delivery enhancements and successful program delivery.
- Prepare and review reports, briefing notes, submissions, business cases, departmental and other correspondence in accordance with organisational requirements.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team in performance, data and business intelligence while fostering positive working relationships and partnerships with colleagues and stakeholders on difficult and complex issues.
