The Shire

Located approximately 160kms south of Perth and covering 2,295 square kilometres, the Shire of Williams is a vibrant rural community strategically located on the Albany Highway. Its ideal location ensures easy access to either Perth City, the coast, or the Southwest region of WA.

The Role

This executive leadership role will see the successful candidate take on a diverse range of responsibilities. Reporting to the CEO, the position will work with limited direction to provide effective financial, risk, human resources, and IT management and legislative compliance for the Shire’s operations, as well providing relief for the Chief Executive Officer.

The Requirements

With a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a financial management position in Local Government or the commercial or public sector, the ideal candidate will also possess sound experience and skills in financial management. This includes the preparation of budgets, long-term financial plans and annual financial reports. They will also possess developed leadership skills and experience, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They must be able to manage multiple projects and tasks at once and deliver them on time according to legislative or organisational deadlines. With well-developed verbal and written communication skills, they should also be competent to resolve conflicts, negotiate and mediate when and as instructed.

Remuneration

This position is offered on a performance-based fixed term contract of between 3 to 5 years with a total remuneration package of $156,471 per annum. The package includes a base salary of $135,000 per annum, superannuation of 11% and a matching superannuation of 3%, annual leave loading and uniform allowance. Housing and vehicle will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
