The Role:
We have an exciting job opportunity for a reliable and Experienced Farmhand to join our client's team and assist the current farm manager in all aspects of this thriving operation. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in a similar role and a passion for agriculture.
The farm is located in the productive upper Southeast region of South Australia, less than an hour's drive to the coast and three hours from Adelaide. The property is well-resourced and spread across 6,900 hectares. It is currently running 10,000 well-bred Merino ewes and followers, emphasising the production of clean, high-yielding medium-micron wool and lambs.
The successful candidate will assist the farm manager with the property's daily operations, including but not limited to livestock husbandry, waters, fencing, yard and other infrastructure maintenance and pasture maintenance as directed. Your own working dogs and basic mechanical and welding skills are an advantage. You will work closely with the farm manager, other team members and contractors to ensure the smooth running of the operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about livestock and looking to develop their skills and grow their career in agriculture.
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:
- Prior experience in a large-scale sheep and wool operation
- Keen interest and passion for livestock and agriculture
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions and work well in a team environment
- Good communication and record-keeping skills
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Basic first aid and chemical users certificate is also an advantage
