Fabrication Manager - Structural Steel

It is our multi-faceted, in-house capabilities, which include engineering, workshop detailing, fabrication and rigging, that allows us to provide a ‘one stop shop’ service to our clients. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Fabrication Manager to join our team and manage our Workshop with a team of Boilermakers, Machine Operators, Welders and Apprentices.

The successful candidate will report to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and be responsible for all fabrication-related activities.

Key duties will be:

• workforce management, including but not limited to, rostering, recruitment and training,
• ensuring the workshop complies with the company’s safety/quality requirements,
• procurement of assets/consumables in line with the allocated budget,
• development, implement and improve Fabrication and Welding Procedures
• maintenance of workshop plant & equipment and welders qualification matrix,
• production planning and scheduling in line with project requirements,
• providing assistance to the pre-construction team with respect to time frames and labour requirements.

To successfully secure this position you need to demonstrate:

• proven experience and achievement in Structural Steel fabrication,
• formal trade qualifications (Cert III) and higher-level certificates (Cert IV and Welding Supervisor - AS2214) will be highly regarded,
• knowledge and understanding of the operational aspects of the fabrication industry,
• an ability to establish rapport and manage a workshop team,
• excellent written and verbal communication skills,
• a high level of attention to detail,
• excellent time management skills,
• strong computer skills, particularly with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook,
• a high level of honesty and integrity.
