Facilities Manager ASAP start

Workfast is looking for an experienced Facility Manager in South Yarra, VIC. 
 
Our client is one of the leading providers of student accommodation in Australia.
 
About the job:
 
We currently looking for a Facility Manager to look after the student accommodation building in South Yarra. You will be reporting to the general manager for your progress. You will be looking after the maintenance team and communicating with the students to make sure the building is following the WHS policies, procedures and reasonable safe working instructions.

This job is a casual position with full-time hours leading to a full-time role.

What you need

• High level of interpersonal skills, especially the ability to relate to young people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to meet tight time frames without compromising accuracy but remain commercial.
• Ability to delegate tasks and manage Facilities Assistant's time to ensure they work effectively and to capacity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Outlook, Excel and StarRez systems
• Good working knowledge of Work, Health & Safety legislation and practice and willingness to continue to learn more in this area and implement learning.
• Good commercial understanding of tendering and service levels required from external contractors.
• Ability to conduct minor repairs to the properties such as carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repairs, painting etc.
• Strong Computer literacy skills
• Clear Police Check 
• WWCC

What you will be doing

• External contracting is managed safely, within budget, on time and to their contracted service levels.
• Work within the annual FM budget as set by the Senior Facilities Manager
• Manage maintenance contractors to ensure contracted maintenance work is carried out safely and follows the WH&S standard and within budget
• Keep and monitor inventory of spare parts and commonly required equipment through StarRez
• Organise maintenance/preventative maintenance schedules.
• Occasional weekend and after-hours attendance is required as part of incident response and contractor supervision.
• Assist Property Operation teams by participating in WHS inspections and reporting all incidents, hazards and near misses.
