The Facilities Operations Manager (FOM) will report directly to the Residential Security. You will be required to work a rotating roster totalling 84 hours per fortnight. As part of your role, you may be required to work additional shifts due to operational requirements and you may be directed to attend VIDF at short notice after hours, on public holidays and weekends to assist with the management of a critical incident.
You will liaise with Serco Managers, coordinate, and manage the daily security and residential operations at VIDF including but not limited to the Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Facilities and Garrison Management teams to drive and ensure a high standard of operational service is maintained. Ensure the safety of staff and detainees and the good order and security of VIDF is maintained and meets or exceeds contractual requirements. You will maintain strong stakeholder engagement.

- Demonstrate the efficient use of staff resources to deliver and maintain a high standard of operational service ensuring the safety, security and high-quality care of staff and detainees that meets the contractual requirements and commercial aspects of the business.
- Demonstrate your ability to lead and manage diverse groups and Emergency Response Team personnel.
- Demonstrate your ability to develop and maintain strong stakeholder engagement and experience working with and managing people from diverse, religious, and cultural backgrounds.
- Possess excellent ccommunication skills (oral & written) and the ability to interpret information accurately and brief stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate your ability to manage critical incidents and site operations with a view to maintaining the safety of all stakeholders and the security and good order of the Centre.
- Be aware of mental health issues and refer to the appropriate stakeholder, for staff and detainees, appropriate interventions, engagement activities, individualized management plans whilst paying particular attention to self-harm and suicide prevention.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, develop staff succession plans and support Operations Managers in the execution of their duties, and supervisory responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to apply a consistent and quality approach to the management of staff performance including the documentation of matters that may be escalated to the Residential / General Manager and the People and Capability Manager as deemed appropriate.
- Ability to respond after-hours at short notice or on public holidays and weekends to assist with the management of a critical incident.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the commercial aspects of the business, impact of staff absenteeism and workers compensation.
- Possess a current C Class Driver’s Licence.

Certificate II Security Operations.
- Certificate IV Security Risk Management (or obtain within 6 months of appointment to the position) and other relevant tertiary qualifications.

You are experienced in working in a secure environment and you understand the operating principles to run a secure environment focussed on detainee management and care. As an operational leader, you will consult and motivate your team to implement procedural change and deliver contract service deliverables and be flexible in your approach in a constantly changing environment. As a person of integrity, you will drive positive engagement between staff and Detainees and have an awareness of the mental health services available within a challenging environment. You will have experience working in a fast paced/highly flexible environment and can assist with contract & legislation compliance. You’re a respectful and professional person who demonstrates exceptional moral values in everything you do.
