Your Role
Working directly with and under the supervision of our directors, you will be required to:
- Prepare for and attend court hearings and conferences;
- Attend and conduct meetings with clients;
- Handle written correspondence from clients, legal professionals and third parties;
- Obtain instructions from clients;
- Draft correspondence, court documents and affidavits;
- Maintain digital and physical files to a high standard;
- Prepare cases for court, including conducting investigations of the matter, disclosure and preparing briefs and instructions to counsel where necessary; and
- Conduct legal research.
Requirements
We are looking for an enthusiastic lawyer with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who is able to hit the ground running.
We are a small close knit team and the role would suit someone proactive who is willing to get stuck in at all levels to get the job done.
For the right candidate, there will be the opportunity to assist with and train in our other practice areas.
You will need the following:
- A law degree;
- 0-10 years of experience in the legal profession, particularly in family. Lawyers with a background in litigation and in interest in family law are welcomed. Law Graduates with relevant experience in Family or Litigation will be considered;
- Experience working in a high-pressured environment with competing priorities;
- Ability to work autonomously and independently, as well as part of a small team;
- Advanced knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office applications; and
- Experience with Leap is advantageous but not necessary as full training will be provided.
