About the role
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and motivated individual to join the Finance and Governance team. This individual will be responsible for managing the financial accounting, accounts payable and customer managed funds teams (4 staff). You will possess the ability to drive performance, motivate the team and work collaboratively to deliver accurate and high-quality outcomes.
Key responsibilities Include:
- Management of the year-end audit process and all financial acquittals;
- Overseeing the monthly financial close process including accruals, prepayments, journals and reconciliations
- Manage the tax obligations of the business (BAS/FBT);
- Management of revenue recognition process across all funding bodies and ensuring accurate representation in the accounts;
- Overseeing the customer managed funds function, ensuring efficient processes are in place, accurate records are maintained and issues are rectified on a timely basis
- Manage and coordinate the daily and weekly cashflow requirements of the business
- Identification and implementation of process and system improvements
- Leading the Accounts Payable function, ensuring invoices are processed in a timely, efficient and accurate manner.
- Develop and document written policies, administrative work instructions and training documentation.
- Provide ad-hoc support to the Financial Controller;
The ideal candidate will have:
- CA/CPA/CIMA qualified;
- Minimum 3 years management experience of part/fully qualified accounting staff;
- Ability to lead and drive performance, delivering accuracy, quality and embedding a culture of continuous improvement;
- Self-starter with a proactive nature and questioning mindset with the ability to challenge the status quo;
- Ability to quickly grasp the flow of information across financial systems;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate finance material into meaningful information for non-finance users;
- Ability to develop and build relationships across the organisation.
