The role
We are seeking a Finance Manager to oversee financial operations and ensure the smooth running of administrative processes within their firm. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the business while supporting our team in delivering exceptional legal services.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and ensure accurate record-keeping and financial integrity of the business.
- Invoicing of authors supported on a weekly basis.
- Manage debtor collection, including updating interest and implementing payment plans.
- Implement and recover time costs for authors, ensuring budgets are maintained.
- Process payroll fortnightly.
- Reconcile GST and prepare quarterly reports for lodgment.
- Produce cumulative earnings reports monthly.
- Prepare Superannuation Reports monthly and handle lodgment.
- Reconcile bank accounts including General, Savings, Trust, Credit Card, and Loan Accounts.
End-of-month rollover:
- Preparation of various financial reports and liaising with external firm accountants.
- Manage QLS Practice insurance premiums and liaise with Westpac Finance.
- Handle QLS Practice Certificate renewals.
- Review salary and wages.
- Maintain contracts/service agreement register, including negotiation and compliance.
- Maintain, reconcile, and audit client investments.
- Review and refund or request trust monies.
- Reconcile Xero.
- Conduct trust audit and produce additional reports as required.
- Monitor time recording and cash flow.
- Provide backup support in the event of annual/other leave of the Practice Manager.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a law firm or accounting environment.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, including Xero.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of legal accounting principles and regulations is preferred.
