Your Opportunity
We have a newly developed Financial Accounting Manager role in our Finance Group! Are you a strong people leader looking for your next career step outside of "Big 4"? This is the role for you!
Our Finance Group is on a mission to champion, safeguard and drive customer, community, and shareholder value. They do this by leading our business through enterprise performance, procurement and supply initiatives, financial management, and creating and enhancing sustainable value.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of Urban Utilities' financial statements. This includes management of all aspects of Urban Utilities' external audit and external financial reporting requirements and tax compliance obligations, ensuring that financial transactions and reports are recorded in accordance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
Some of your accountabilities will include:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of Urban Utilities Financial Accounting, tax and asset accounting functions
- Managing and mentoring a team of accounting professionals to foster an inclusive and high-performing team culture
- Leading the organisation's annual external audit program collaborating with business areas and providing expert advice to ensure material financial reporting risks for the organisation are managed
- Developing organisational wide financial control frameworks, policy and guidelines to ensure compliance with accounting principles, financial regulations and financial reporting requirements.
- Manage the development and delivery the organisation's tax systems and processes to ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and reporting. Provide advice and expertise in the development and implementation of tax strategies.
- Managing the delivery of the organisation's annual statutory financial statements and disclosures ensuring integrity, accuracy and completeness
About You
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
- You possess strong leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to manage and mentor individuals and teams to be the best they can be. You'll foster an inclusive and high-performing culture to safely deliver the work.
- You are CPA/CA qualified
- You enjoy collaborating across different areas of an organisation, fostering strong working relationships, communication and knowledge sharing
- You have experience in a financial management and accounting within a large organisation with experience of operations in a regulated environment.
- You connect strongly to role that Urban Utilities' plays within the SEQ community, driving and championing strategies that ultimately add value back to our shareholders and customers
