Port School is an independent secondary school situated in Hamilton Hill. The School aims to engage at-risk students in Year 8 to 12 who, for a variety of reasons and situational circumstances, have not been able to achieve success in mainstream school settings.
The School is currently seeking a part-time Finance Officer for ca. 30 hours per week, with an opportunity to work some hours off-campus. There is the potential for the right candidate to move to a full-time position in the future.
ROLEThe successful candidate will be highly organised with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload. The ability to work autonomously and without direct supervision is essential. The ideal candidate must be well-versed in payroll and have a solid understanding of award rates and conditions. Only Perth based applicants will be considered.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Reconcile and pay all creditor invoices (weekly and monthly)
- Complete monthly reconciliations of bank and credit card statements
- Fortnightly payroll (currently ca. 60 staff)
- Produce and lodge monthly IAS and quarterly BAS returns
- Lodge monthly superannuation returns
- Prepare and lodge State and Commonwealth Education Department reports as required
- Produce monthly financial reports and cash flow forecasts for the Board
- Prepare all required reports for annual audit
- Prepare all other annual government reports as required
- Prepare annual insurance renewals
- Manage all insurance claims including Workers’ Compensation
- Liaise with the Principal and Business Manager regarding all financials
- Oversee staff employment contracts
- Oversee Salary Packaging arrangements
- Experience in an education or school financial role (preferable but not essential)
- Excellent working knowledge of MYOB AccountRight and Excel (minimum of 3 years)
- Well-versed in all Microsoft Office programs
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all aspects of the job
- Excellent working knowledge of payroll award rates and conditions
- Sound knowledge of general finance, payroll, budgeting and processes
- Excellent working knowledge of MYOB AccountRight
- The ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with the Principal, Business Manager and Board
- Current WA Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain one
- Current National Police Clearance
- The right to work in Australia
