The organisation are a very well known and highly regarded organisation with offices in Melbourne's inner east. Currently they operate a hybrid working environment which means part of the week can be at home. Offices are close to local public transport links and only a few kms from the CBD.
The Role
This is initially a contracting position to cover a void as well as heavy workload. Minimum duration is 3 months though it's worth noting that there will be a permanent position opening up that the successful contractor is welcome to apply for.
This is a busy and challenging Financial Accounting role that reports directly to a Senior Financial Accountant. It is expected to commence as soon as possible with initial interviews taking place from mid March and the successful applicant starting before the end of the month
The main responsibilities of the position include:
- Processing of month end journals;
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and variances identified with commentary provided for month end/annual reporting;
- Management of balance sheet variances with the aim of identifying and resolving variances and identifying/implementing process changes to minimise variances;
- Maintain the Chart of Accounts, Fixed Asset Register.
- Manage the daily cash flow model to record actual cash flow movements;
- Management of all Bank Reconciliations across the Group.
- Assist with the budgeting and planning process as required;
- Issuing/cancelling of corporate credit cards

It's a fast paced and ever changing environment which requires a strong work ethic and ability to hit the ground running.
Your Profile
You will have a background in Accounting and Finance with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in a similar position. The following attributes will also be highly advantageous:
- Prior experience within a mid-large organisation working in accounting
- CPA qualification, part qualification or some interest in pursuing in the future
- Excellent attitude and work ethic
- Very strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to read and understand p&l and balance sheet information
- Comfortable commuting to the inner eastern suburbs minimum 3 days per week
- Strong exposure to month end reporting and cashflow management
