Join the close-knit finance team for the Australasian Medical Publishing (AMPCo) company in the Sydney CBD. The Financial Accountant reports to the Head of Finance and Corporate Services and will be part of the team that provides all financial management and reporting services, as well as payroll services for AMPCo.
You will be responsible for ensuring that AMPCo's financial data is captured in a timely, accurate, and complete manner to support operational and strategic decision-making.
The Financial Accountant supports the:
- day to day financial activities, following efficient business processes within the team and providing financial advice to key stakeholders
- production of periodic financial reports, reconciliations and general ledger journal processing
- preparation and analysis of monthly reports (including variance, cash flow and forecasts)
- supervision of the accounts payable and receivable function, including assistance in debt collections and stakeholder inquiries
- day to day cash management activities including bank reconciliations and bank liaison
- preparation of BASs and tax related matters (payroll, FBT)
- Annual budget process and forecasting processes
- Annual financial statement preparation and audit
- Preparation and review of fortnightly payroll jointly with the Payroll Manager
- implementation of the ERP system
- renewals of business insurance
What it Takes
To be successful in this role the Financial Accountant will have:
- relevant accounting qualifications and a demonstrated ability to work as part of a small finance team.
- solid experience in end-to-end payroll related functions and completing accounts payable / receivable, BAS reports, monthly journals, balance sheet reconciliations and periodic financial reports is essential.
- the ability to work with minimal supervision, build rapport, along with taking the initiative to solve problems and produce high-quality work are essential.
- excellent organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage competing complex demands to meet tight deadlines.
- strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively to build collaborative working relationships.
- experience in using financial management information systems to analyse data, produce documents and maintain accurate records.
