Council's Finance and PropertyServices team are in search of a suitably experienced Financial Accountant tojoin the team. Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant you will beresponsible for Council’s statutory financial reporting including the preparationof monthly and annual financial statements.
You will also apply yourtechnical experience to ensure taxation compliance and provide advice onFringe Benefits Tax and GST.

Essential:
Recognised Accounting, Business or Commerce degree
Experience in the preparation of General Purpose and Special Purpose Financial Statements
Extensive knowledge of Australian Taxation legislation, particularly in relation to Fringe Benefits Taxation (FBT) and Goods and Services Taxation (GST)
Demonstrated experience in applying accounting policies, principles and Australian and International standards
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products (in particular Excel and Word)
Desirable:
Previous Local Government experience
Previous experience with Civica Authority or other financial management information system
To meet Council’s WHS requirements and in accordance with Council’s Covid-19 Safety Plans, this position has been identified via risk assessment to be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or provide evidence of an approved medical contraindication. If a medical contraindication certificate is provided, it will be assessed against a risk assessment and the decision of whether Council accepts the medical contraindication certificate, will be based on operational needs.
