The management team at Tro Pacific are on the hunt for a Financial Controller to head up the Finance team and take it to the next level. You will be joining a management team that is focused and driven to execute goals and on a journey to create the next industry leader.
Role Outline
The Financial Controller will be responsible for
- Managing and executing the day-to-day finance operations of the business.
- Manage and oversee all financial transactions within the business and ensure accurate accounting treatment is applied.
- Manage and apply financial governance policies to ensure business assets are safeguarded.
- Provide management & directors with accurate and timely financial reporting.

Prepare monthly management accounts including monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare divisional expense allocations & divisional reporting
Co-ordinate completion of tax-accounts and annual financial reports.
Communicate with key stakeholders such and respond to information requests as required.
Manage tasks relating to business funding – eg. entry of new equipment finance transactions in to the accounting ledger
LeadershipThis role is accountable for the retention, development and leadership of direct reports and includes assisting in recruitment for future team members
Oversee the Finance team, assist in setting goals and objectives, and implement a framework for these to be met by Directors/GM
Actively manage the achievement of your direct reports’ KPIs, providing guidance and coaching as required
Undertake HR tasks as directed by the CEO for your team such as performance management, recruitment, leave approval, salary increases and onboarding, in line with company policy
Conduct annual performance review with your direct reports
Accounting Systems, Processes and Continuous ImprovementHave a strong knowledge of integrated Accounting, ERP & other systems and understand the interactions of different components within the system
Always look for new areas of continuous improvement in systems & automation
Be the main point of contact for all Accounting Systems enquries (alongside the IT representative)
Inventory Management – apply best practice inventory management policies in the businesses’ accounting system
Regularly review accounting processes and Internal Controls with your team and the Directors/CEO. Look for areas where internal controls can be tightened, or processes can be streamlined
Commit to an ongoing effort to innovate, and improve products, services, and processes with your team and across the wider business
Accounts Payable- Supervise and execute the Accounts Payable function
- Ensure suppliers are paid on time
- Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place with respect to orders, invoice approval & payments.
- Approval of weekly supplier payment batches
- Supervise the Accounts Receivable function
- Apply AR risk management policies
- Provide support to the Accounts Receivable team in collecting overdue funds
- Make recommendations to the directors / management regarding any unacceptable credit risks
- CPA Knowledge would be advantageous
- Be the main point of contact between the business and its tax advisor(s)
- Ensure that GST Treatment is correct for all supplier bills and customer invoices.
- Prepare data for ongoing compliance obligations and ensure lodgements & payments are made on time
- Commit to an ongoing effort to innovate, and improve products, services, and processes with your team and across the wider business.
- Research new technologies and alternative methods of efficiency.
- Develop and/or apply internal controls and good governance policies in all areas of the business
- Ensure appropriate insurance coverage is in place & maintained
- Assist the directors & management to identify & manage key financial risks (eg. interest rates, foreign exchange, credit risk, customer risk), and develop policies and strategies to manage & mitigate these risks
