Your new company
Our client is a Victorian state-owned entity and iconic tourist attraction, attracting large numbers to their location in the far Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. Due to a change of team structure and requirements, our client is looking to welcome a Fitter/Machinist with a great attitude to join their team.
Your new role
Reporting to the workshop manager, your new role will see you completing a variety of day-to-day duties. Based in a fully equipped heavy maintenance workshop, you will be working with a team of talented trades and craftspeople ensuring high quality maintenance and operation of locomotives and carriages, running maintenance and restoration of historic locomotives, carriages and other equipment.
What you'll need to succeed
Our client requires someone who is a hard-working team player, who enjoys completing a variety of tasks that will utilise all of your trade skills using initiative and problem-solving and possesses a can-do attitude to see jobs through to completion. In order to be successful, you will also need:
- Relevant trade qualification - Certificate III in Engineering (Fitting/Machining, Maintenance Fitting, Diesel Fitting or Mechanical Trade)
- Experience in using workshop machinery; lathes, mills, grinders etc.
- The ability to interpret technical manuals and drawings, accurately work to tolerances and perform precision measurements.
- Welding experience would be highly regarded
- Experience maintaining machinery and heavy fitting experience is an advantage
What you'll get in return

- Salary increase after 6 months
- Permanent position with full-time hours (opportunity to make this a part time position if desired by the selected candidate)
