The United Service Club is located in the historic Spring Hill precinct, close to Central train station and the Brisbane CBD.
The Club provides a wide range of hospitality services to its members and their guests in an atmosphere of timeless elegance and comfort. The attentive, friendly, personalised service and a warm, inviting atmosphere are the hallmarks on which the Club prides itself on whilst making its members feel at home whenever they visit.
Providing a variety of Food & Beverage facilities for breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday the Club is highly regarded for the attentive service, quality of catering and general ambiance afforded Members and visitors. The Club boasts a number of dining options including fine dining in the Dining Room, alfresco dining in the Members Bar and on the front veranda and terrace, as well as several private function spaces.
Although we have a small team in the Club this role is not for the faint of heart. We are looking for a candidate who can not only lead a team but be a part of one, who has extensive wine knowledge, eye for detail and an obsessive focus on guest satisfaction. We would like someone with an appetite to succeed who will put in the hard work to assist in the Clubs success. The successful applicant will be engaged in a full time salaried position commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Job Summary:
The Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for leading the food and beverage service staff in the Club's facilities including the Club Dining Room, Members Bars & Function rooms. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of member service by overseeing all aspects of service and service staff during operating hours, while working in a clean and safe environment, and meeting all financial goals for sales and expenses.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Opens and closes on a regular basis. Responsible for ensuring Club is secure upon departure and that all lights, equipment, doors, etc. are turned off or locked
• Acts as the Manager on Duty (MOD) when all other management staff has departed for the evening and supervises any remaining staff in the Clubhouse. Works with remaining staff to complete tasks in an effective and efficient manner.
• Controls costs of all food and beverage outlets by assisting management, as requested, in purchasing, maintaining effective profit and loss controls and monitoring labour costs following demand patterns, budget and Award Regulations
• Protects Club, members and guests by training staff in and adhering to all safety, sanitation, food preparation, food storage and alcohol beverage control policies including confirming legal drinking age and discontinuing service to intoxicated guests as per Queensland RSA Guidelines.
• Maintain consistency of service by being aware of and prepared for all events, large parties and reservations that may affect food and beverage service operations
• Communicates and teams well with other departments (i.e. Events, Reception, Membership, Kitchen, etc.) ensuring appropriate staff levels for all events and ensuring assigned responsibilities are carried out.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
• This is a hands on role not an office job and the successful applicant is expected to be visible on the floor during service times
• Attends and participates in weekly Leadership meetings
• Implements and supports all Club initiatives and programs and requested by management
• Maintains knowledge of other Clubs award and industry trends
The successful applicant will have
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, payroll planning, cost control
- Demonstrated knowledge of rostering staff and managing payroll costs
- Demonstrated ability to establish long term departmental strategic plans and goals for the people and product
- Previous event and al la carte experience
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and presentation
- Genuine commitment to guest service and excellent attention to detail
- Previous management experience in a 5 star or private member environment
- Current RSA ,RMLV & Approved Manager or ability to obtain
