We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and customer service orientated Front Office Manager to lead our busy Front Office and Housekeeping teams.
The motel is a premier 4 star motel located on the outskirts of the Hunter Valley, in New South Wale's picturesque wine and gourmet food region. Comprising 64 spa rooms and suites, our stylish and modern rooms are the ideal base for anyone who wants easy access to the wineries, vineyards and historic attractions of the Hunter Valley region. A popular destination for weekend getaways, conferences, corporate visitors, leisure groups and families, Hunter Gateway Motel is conveniently located just 2 hours’ drive from Sydney and 45 minutes from Newcastle. The motel is managed by leading South Australian based management company, 1834 Hotels.
The key responsibilities will include:
- Work within set budgets in relation to wage costs and ensure rosters are compiled and adjusted appropriate to demand;
- Maximize yield through consistent monitoring and effective utilization of room rates, occupancy and packages using every opportunity to promote hotel facilities in order to maximize sales;
- Develop a thorough knowledge of venue facilities including number, location and types of rooms;
- Engage with the Housekeeping team to ensure high standards, efficiencies and effective processes for the accommodation division;
- Consistently drive growth of our accommodation facilities through sound marketing/up selling and staff training and development;
- Ensure accuracy of reservations in respect of deposit information, billing, credit details, VIP guest special requests, room rates, return guest and new guest information;
- Maintain liaison and develop good relationships with existing clients, local residents and businesses, as well as focusing on establishing new business; and
- Focus on quoting, booking and selling all group bookings.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A can-do, responsible, and flexible approach to work;
- Comprehensive financial understanding of managing a profitable operation and managing costs particularly controlling wages;
- Prior experience in leading, developing and mentoring a Front Office team;
- Initiative, commitment and passion for your job;
- The ability to communicate effectively with your team and other heads of department;
- An ability to thrive under pressure and direct your team in a high paced environment;
- Proven ability to be a proactive individual with strong organisational and time management skills;
- A great sense of style and immaculate presentation and grooming;
- Previous experience with Protel and Duetto will be highly regarded;
- Demonstrated understanding of Hospitality Industry (General) Award compliance; and
- A strong appreciation and compliance of workplace safety.
This is a full time salaried role, working predominantly Monday to Friday. There is also a furnished 1-bedroom manager’s apartment available on site for living.
