We welcome applications from ambitious individuals interested in role primarily based in Sydney. While the role is based mainly in Sydney, we are open to flexibility regarding the number of days required to be physically present in Sydney for candidates from the East Coast (Newcastle / Brisbane / Melbourne / Adelaide)

Role Overview 

As the General Manager at Liberty Industrial, you will lead strategic management and coordination across our Australian business. Your key objective will be to surpass financial and safety targets, driving excellence in all aspects of our operations.  This role is instrumental in shaping and steering our operations, aligning with Liberty Industrial’s corporate direction and core values.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, entrepreneurial individual with senior management experience and strong operational knowledge with a hands-on, can-do approach to business. This role requires excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills and demonstrated abilities to set KPIs, deliver on company and client expectations, and achieve ambitious growth and profitability targets. It is vital to have the aptitude to partner with a broad range of stakeholders and build strong relationships in the marketplace.

As a senior leader in Liberty Industrial, you are required to have a strategic focus with demonstrated experience in marketing, business development, and operations. This position requires at least 10 years of experience, with demonstrated senior leadership capability and the ability to influence credibly and effectively at all levels within a client’s organization. Tertiary qualifications are essential, with degrees in business, and management,  being highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As the General Manager, you will lead strategic direction, operational oversight, and team advancement to drive organizational excellence.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to optimize operations and achieve business objectives, prioritizing client satisfaction and sustainable growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, providing constructive feedback to exceed performance targets.
  • Identify training needs and champion professional development to enhance team capabilities and career progression.
  • Cultivate client relationships and identify opportunities for business expansion while ensuring compliance with regulations, risk management, safety, and quality standards.
  • Implement efficient financial management practices, remain updated on industry trends, and leverage technology solutions to drive operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the management team to enhance internal procedures and elevate organizational standards.
  • Roll up your sleeves and undertake any additional tasks required to ensure smooth and effective operations.

Required Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge

  • Previous senior executive role (essential).
  • Tertiary qualification in project management, engineering, business management/administration or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of operational management experience 
  • Successfully delivering large organisational change programmes
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Commitment to excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Extensive leadership experience with the ability to drive performance and become a focal point for new initiatives.
