My client is a leading national industrial and engineering business with several divisions. One of its divisions provides sophisticated surface engineering and metal finishing services to industrial, agricultural, and mining and construction clients in three states. The business is largely involved with the reconditioning of critical mechanical parts.
Right now, they are looking to appoint a talented General Manager to lead the division in its next phase of growth.
Reporting to the CEO, key aspects of this role include:
- Being responsible for the safety, operational and financial performance of the surface finishing division.
- The ongoing development of 4 business unit managers.
- Facilitating the sharing of best practice metrics between branches and presenting a national capability to major clients.
- Business planning including budgeting, resource allocation, capacity planning and capital management.
- Constructive change management and in the future, integrating the operations of new facilities acquired through M&A activity.
To be successful in this role you will be an energetic and engaged individual who knows when to delegate and when to be hands on. It is likely you will possess:
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role at either the GM level or as an aspiring business unit manager looking to take the next step in your career.
- Operational experience in any of the following: metal finishing, surface engineering, cold spraying, component remanufacturing or a machining/mechanical services type business.
- Consummate interpersonal, influencing and communication skills combined with a strong focus on achieving goals.
- Relevant trade qualifications backed with relevant post graduate qualifications in production, engineering, or commerce.
- Experience managing a business that employs circa 50 staff across multiple sites (all factory based).
