General Manager - Civil Engineering Contractor

They have completed bulk earthworks projects for renewable energy, rail, airports, mines as well as a variety of civil construction projects in Sydney. As they continue to expand operations, they are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to join the team. You will work closely with ownership and become a leader within the team. 
 
Role Overview: As the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing construction operations and driving business growth. You will be responsible for leading a team of professionals, managing projects efficiently, and fostering strong client relationships. Your expertise in CIvil Engineering projects, coupled with your business development acumen, will be crucial in achieving strategic objectives.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the construction team.
• Oversee all aspects of project management, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
• Develop and implement business development strategies to identify and pursue new opportunities in the market.
• Cultivate strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, and resource allocation to optimize profitability.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and performance.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Manage recruitment of personnel 

Requirements:

• Similar experience working with a tier-one contractor or leading civil subcontractors is essential.
• Proven track record in managing earthworks projects from conception to completion.
• Strong business development skills with the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities.
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities, with the capacity to inspire and motivate teams.
• Sound financial acumen and experience in budget management.
• A commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability practices.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in CIvil Engineering, construction management, or a related field.
