Sundstrom Recruitment has been engaged exclusively to assist a long established mining contractor with the appointment of a General Manager of Health, Safety and Environment. The role will lead the group safety function of a business that encompasses diversified business units.

Reporting to the CEO you will be responsible for leading a team of safety professionals. You will be joining a business with an established and mature safety culture and will play a pivotal role in the delivery of the company’s continuous improvement initiatives. What you will be doing:
- Driving the safety governance of the organisation through the creation and implementation of systems and processes,
- Leading engagement through strong relationship building and management with stakeholders at all levels,
- Identifying areas for continuous improvement and developing initiatives for performance development,
- Providing advisory support to senior management, the CEO and the board on daily basis,
- Effectively lead, coach and mentor members within the HSEQ team and wider business,
- Collate and analyse relevant data and executive reporting,
- Monitoring legislative change and providing expert advice.
How you will excel:
You will be a hands-on senior leader that is a performer, not theorist.
- Hold a relevant qualification in Health and Safety;
- Minimum of 10 years experience in a senior or corporate HSE Management role - ideally within the resources sector
- Ability to communicate effectively and liaise with clients and the executive team;
- Proven experience with the development of HSE management systems at an executive level.
- Thrive in a leadership team while being approachable at site level
- Demonstrable experience in leading teams and overseeing safety across multiple projects
