About the Role:
The Group Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Finance function and is responsible for the budget planning and supports the executive management team by offering insights and financial advice that will allow them to make the best business decisions for the company.
- Preparation of monthly/quarterly financial and management reporting
- Preparation of annual accounts for audit and annual statutory reporting in conjunction with Tax Agent
- Management and ultimate responsibility for the finance function of the Group
- Preparation of the Monthly Board report (delivered within 10 days of EOM)
- Supervision and performance management of the Finance Team
- Monitor the day-to-day financial operations and all other transactions
- Complete tax returns, PAYG and other statutory compliance requirements in conjunction with Tax Agent
- Provide financial and analytical support to the General Manager
- Management of budgets and forecasting
- Develop, implement, and monitor appropriate financial systems, procedures, and internal controls to support the efficient and effective operations of the Group
- Support the General Manager and Divisional Managers around budgets, spending, reporting and financial accountability
- Perform ad hoc analysis pro-actively or as directed, to provide performance insights that aid growth and focus appropriate resource allocation
- Develop strong and collaborative relationships with key Bankers to ensure effectiveness of communications and resolution of issues
- Handle insurance claims
- Review daily the bank accounts to ensure that none are overdrawn
What do you need:
- CA or CPA qualified with a minimum of 10 years’ experience gained in the financial field preferably within the mining industry.
- Experience managing the annual audit and preparing annual financial statements
- Strong knowledge of accounting software and MS Excel
- Demonstrated experience in managing an organization’s accounting, tax, and statutory compliance requirements
- Assertive and resilient by nature
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience of working collaboratively and influencing across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Self-starter with the ability to work with limited supervision
- Team mentoring abilities
