(Organisation site ) Metropolitan North Region, Early Childhood and State Schools Division Indooroopilly State School are seeking applications for a permanent part-time Guidance Officer to join our school community at 0.8FTE per fortnight beginning in Semester 2,2024.
Within this role Assessment, Counselling, Leadership team membership are allrequirements. Partnering will fellow professionals, including HOSES is essential. Specialist knowledge of disability areas will be valued. About Indooroopilly State SchoolIndooroopilly State School is situated in the western suburbs of Brisbane and the majority of our students come from middle to high socio-economic families that are well educated and have high expectations for their children's learning and achievement. An exciting aspect of our school's character is the large number of students from other countries. Currently students with English as a second language attend our school from 50 different countries. These students and their families enhance our school environment in many ways and we pride ourselves on the multi-cultural nature of our school. The students at Indooroopilly State School are very capable, well behaved and enthusiastic learners. Indooroopilly State School has a history that stretches back to 1889. Many staff, students, parents and other members of the school community have played a part in making that history - a small part of which is recorded here. About the Role Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Advocate, provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment and individual student support, recommendations and advice to students, teachers and parents concerning educational, behavioural, career development, mental health and family issues. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel and external support agencies in order to provide a comprehensive support, case management and referral service that optimises students' access and engagement in educational programs. Provide a counselling and referral service to assist students in decision making about critical educational, personal, social, emotional and career development, and provide ongoing support during the implementation phase of their decision.
