About Us:
North Rockhampton State High is a large Band 10 coeducational school situated in the centre of North Rockhampton. Currently, the school has a student population of about 950 students and eighty teaching staff. A large Special Education Unit provides additional support structures within the school.
A very strong extra-curricular program is a hallmark of the school. Outstanding sporting success of students at district, regional state and national levels reflect a strong school and staff commitment to sport. Music and instrumental music programs are also widely recognised in the Rockhampton community, with the school's instrumental music ensembles producing outstanding results.
About the Role:
Head of Department for English will demonstrate initiative and play a leading role in supporting students' learning and the effective delivery of the English curriculum so that every young person has the opportunity to achieve their personal best.
The position leads a large team of educators and supports the school to drive the strategic agenda focused on developing assessment capable learners.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
Set high standards for student and staff performance.
Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
Be futures oriented and strategic.
Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students and staff within the school department.
