Abound Communities, formerly Old Colonists Association of Victoria is a leading not-for-profit provider of comprehensive care solutions, specialising in Residential Care, Home Care, and Retirement Villages, offering a continuum of care from independent living to assisted living and aged care in Victoria. Our four villages across Victoria – including St Helena, Fitzroy North, Berwick and Euroa are home to 500 older Victorians in need. We are a community based, not-for-profit organisation who put our residents and their families at the forefront of all we do. Your new role

As a direct report of the CEO and a member of the Abound Communities Executive Leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic direction and support to the managers of our Residential Care, Home Care, and Retirement Villages. This role involves pioneering innovative business solutions aimed at expanding revenue while upholding the quality of care and services provided. You will lead the way in identifying growth opportunities, implementing new strategies, and continually improving Abound Communities service offerings.  The ideal candidate will possess a combination of strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for making a positive impact in the lives of others.

About You

You will ideally bring the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or business administration, operations management, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience at a senior management level within the healthcare, community or aligned sector.
  • Experience leading service delivery, cultural change, and major projects in a complex multi-site organisation. 
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence. 
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute operational plans that drive results and create value. 
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and experience in budget development, financial management, and revenue optimisation. 
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and best practices in senior care services. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills. 
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office applications) and systems
  • Full Covid 19 and other related vaccination 
Key Responsibilities

Leadership, Strategic Planning and Development

  • Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives including the identification of growth opportunities, operational improvements, and risk management strategies across operational business divisions. 
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the managers of Residential Care, Home Care, and Retirement Villages.

Residents’ Experience 

  • Ensure that there are effective methods of engagement and communication with residents, families, and carers across the portfolio. Implementing a co-design methodology to ensure their opinions and needs are heard relating to day-to-day operations, new initiatives, and capital projects. 
  • Ensure a culture where all feedback is welcomed and used to improve services delivered and resident experience. Ensure these are monitored and actions taken as required. 
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.

Capital/Infrastructure

  • Contribute expertise to any major capital builds or significant refurbishments. 
  • Lead the operational requirements as part of the project team to commission any new home of independent living village. 
  • Develop an annual capital plan to support the facilities for repairs and maintenance, minor capital requirements and major refurbishments.

Budget and Financial Management: 

  • Lead/develop and manage annual operational budgets to optimise resource allocation and achieve financial targets and strategic expectations. 
  • Understand each site’s net profit and ensure strategies are in place to deliver targets. 
  • Build synergies and monitor expenses, revenue, and financial performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities. 

Function in accordance with legislation & common law affecting business practice by ensuring: 

  • Design, monitor and review the implementation of strategic plans to ensure risk, quality, accreditation and clinical and corporate governance standards are met.
  • Responsible for full compliance with all relevant regulations and standards

Conduct business practice in a way that can be ethically justified by ensuring: 

  • That situations that have ethical implications for self and the organisation are identified. 
  • The acceptance of the allocation of residents is regardless of race, culture, religion, gender, sexual preference, physical or mental status, and complies with organisational policy.
