Bass High School, located in South-Western Sydney as part of the Chipping Norton Network, embodies a diverse and inclusive educational focus. With approximately 780 students from years 7-12, including a specialised Support Unit catering to up to 50 students with autism, and mild and moderate intellectual disabilities, our school fosters a rich tapestry of talent and backgrounds.
Diversity is celebrated, with over 60% of our students coming from non-English speaking backgrounds, while 3% of our enrolment comprises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, totalling 27 individuals. Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria:
- Approval to teach English 7-12 with demonstrated evidence of successful inclusive teaching practices that respond to the needs of diverse learners, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, students with disabilities and those from low SES backgrounds.
- Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead the implementation of the7-12 English curricula, including developing and evaluating high-quality teaching and learning programs with best-practice assessment strategies.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive, respectful relationships with students, staff and families.
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
