About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, confident Work Health and Safety Advisor to promote and maintain a health and safety culture for all employees at the Autism Association.
You will provide support to managers, coordinators, and team leaders to assist in meeting legislative requirements and delivery of best practices in relation to incident and hazard management, risk management, chemical management and injury management, etc. In consultation with stakeholders, you will identify, review and recommend work practices to eliminate or minimise work health and safety risks.
Duties include:
- Complete regular WHS audits and inspections for compliance and develop action plans.
- Act as a resource for work health and safety queries.
- Monitor and follow-up with accident/incident/hazard reports and formulate regular reporting to stakeholders.
- Deliver WHS related training and review training needs analysis.
- Develop and deliver Manual Handling programs, including ergonomic checks.
- Create Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complete periodic reviews.
- Maintain the Fire and Emergency Evacuation guidelines across all sites.
- Coordinate Evacuations as required. Maintain standard of fire wardens and provide warden training.
- Conduct high-level accident/incident investigations.
- Maintain chemical registers and SDS and complete risk assessments.
- Coordinate WHS newsletter.
- Administration of vaccine program requirements.
About You
In this role, you will ideally have:
- Relevant qualification in health and safety.
- Experience in a similar role, preferably with a disability or community-based organisations.
- Knowledge of key WHS legislative requirements.
- Proficient in incident investigation, health and safety auditing and risk assessments.
- Support continual development of a strong safety culture by promoting a proactive approach to risk and injury management.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels and proficient in report writing.
- Experience in delivering WHS training to all levels of staff.
- Team player with high attention to detail and proactive positive ‘can do' approach in all undertakings.
- Australian working rights essential.
