Position No: RIA3123189 Salary/Level: Level 4, $87,712 - $92,057 p.a. plus SuperannuationTenure: Permanent, Full-timeLocation: Fremantle and Rottnest Island (commuting), Western AustraliaThe Heritage Officer role provides cultural heritage management services to meet regulatory requirements and strategic goals defined in the Rottnest Island Authority strategic and operational plans. Key accountabilities include compliance with legislation, management of heritage places and projects, development and maintenance of procedures and processes, and the implementation of reconciliation activities. The role has a strong focus on developing and facilitating business processes to meet compliance commitments required under the Noongar Standard Heritage Agreement and Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972. This includes facilitating site surveys, preparing statutory submissions and maintaining a database of heritage information.The role includes the development and implementation of interpretative strategies for the management of the Wadjemup Museum including collections management and delivery of new displays and exhibitions.The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current Working With Children Check and a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.Application Instructions:To allow the selection panel to make an accurate assessment of your application, please submit the following:A covering letter.A written response addressing the five (5) requested criteria below (in no more than three (3) pages).A current resume.Selection CriteriaDemonstrated experience managing Aboriginal heritage in compliance with relevant agreements and legislation to meet operational requirements (including the ability to research, interpret and analyse heritage information from multiple sources as well as demonstrated experience managing heritage data using computer applications such as access databases, Microsoft Excel and Work, GIS or similar).Efficient and timely project and resource management including scoping, scheduling and delivering of heritage projects and surveys.Demonstrated experience in museum collections management and interpretive exhibitions.Demonstrated understanding of and experience working with a range of stakeholders (including Aboriginal people, Registered Native Title Bodies, community groups, heritage practitioners, researchers, volunteers, visitors and government agencies) to manage heritage, develop projects and deliver results in a complex operational setting (such as the tourism sector).Demonstrated communication skills (including excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills) and ability to negotiate confidently.Please click “Apply” and you will be redirected to the WA Government Jobs Board website at https://search.jobs.wa.gov.au/ where you can submit your application online.For further information about the Rottnest Island Authority, please visit https://ria.wa.gov.au/.For further job-related information, please contact Richenda Prall on 0448 631 061.Closing date: Tuesday, 9 April 2024 at 12 noon AWST (2pm AEST).
