Primary Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the HR Coordinator role will oversee end to end recruitment processes and provide support in the areas of human resources policy & process management & development, HR special projects and people & culture development initiatives for NWA’s entity, Glass Jar Australia (GJA).
Responsibilities and Duties
HR Generalist Support
- Use relevant agreements, Awards, policies and legislation to provide expert HR advice to managers and staff
Recruitment and Induction
- Overall responsibility for all aspects of the end to end recruitment process
- Preparation of position description, terms and conditions in conjunction with the relevant Manager
- Management of onboarding and offboarding requirements
- Manage the induction process for new employees
- Manage the probationary cycle for new employees
- Coordinate activities related to work placements, workplace learning and intern placements
Information Management
- Manage the HR information system to ensure employee files are complete and accurate
- Communicate regularly with Payroll around employee contract amendments and pay entitlements
- Ensure all PD’s and contracts are accurate, complete and up to date
- Ensure NWA and GJA meet all legislative requirements
Other Duties
- Work with the CF&PO and the HR Manager on various other matters and special projects as required
- Coordinate activities related to Netball WA’s Employee Assistance and Wellness Programs
- Support activities that help to reinforce a positive culture in line with NWA values and behaviors
- Any other duties within the Employee's capabilities and which is reasonable to expect the Employee to undertake as directed by Chief Executive Officer or HR Manager from time to time
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Commitment to NWA’s values & behaviours
- Relevant experience (minimum 2 years) in a related field of employment, focus on recruitment
- Ensure confidentiality requirements are met at all times
- Represent NWA at a highly professional level and with a positive relationship building approach
- Sound knowledge and working experience of HR, IR legislation and best practice
- Demonstrated strength in negotiation and ability to create, develop and sustain productive partnerships with a range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meet deadlines and manage time effectively – to work autonomously and within a team environment
- Demonstrated understanding of the confidentiality and advisory “balance” requirements of the role
- High level of communication skills (written and verbal)
- Preparedness to be flexible in respect to work hours and intrastate/interstate travel
- A current ‘C’ class WA driver’s licence
- WA Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- At all times ensure a Child Safe environment
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children
- Comply with the Netball Australia Member Protection Policy and Child Safeguarding Policy
- Comply with the WA Working with Children Check (WWCC) Legislation which means:
- If your usual duties involve, or are likely to involve, contact with a child under 18 you will be required to obtain a WWCC;
- If you fall into a WWCC exemption category a National Police Clearance Certificate is required
Desired
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR Management or experience in a similar position
- Experience in the sport/not-for-profit industry would be highly regarded
Hours of Work
This is a part time role working (0.6FTE) 22.5hours per week on a maximum term contract for an initial period of 12 months with potential scope to extend or convert to a permanent role. We have a flexible approach to ensuring our people can balance their family life and personal commitments alongside the demands of the industry.
Child Safeguarding
NWA as a child safe organisation require all applicants that will work with children to undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment.
