Our apparel category is growing rapidly, and we are recruiting for a highly motivated Industrial Designer to join our scaling production and technical team.
Position Summary:
The Industrial Designer at Sourci is responsible for developing and creating innovative designs for a variety of products in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role demands a high level of creativity, technical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. The Industrial Designer will be instrumental in transforming client visions into manufacturable and market-ready products.
This involves close collaboration with clients to understand their design needs and preferences, ensuring that these are effectively translated into innovative designs that align with both client expectations and market trends. The designer will engage in the full product development process, from initial concept through to final production, working closely with the Production Management team and other designers to create detailed technical documentation, including tech packs, that adhere to industry standards. Additionally, the Industrial Designer will play a key role in material selection, prototyping, and testing to ensure the final products are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
This position requires staying current with industry trends and technological advancements to continuously integrate new ideas and improve design processes. Ultimately, the Industrial Designer will contribute to Sourci’s reputation for delivering high-quality, cutting-edge products that meet and exceed client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Engagement: Establish and maintain effective communication with current and prospective clients to understand their design needs and preferences.
- Design Development: Create innovative and market-aligned artwork based on client briefs, ensuring designs meet brand aesthetics and current market trends.
- Technical Documentation: Develop detailed tech packs that include all necessary specifications for manufacturing, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Production Management team and other designers to develop comprehensive tech packs for various products, including accessories and bags.
- CAD Modeling: Create and refine detailed Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models to accurately represent product specifications and features.
- Prototyping: Develop physical and digital prototypes to test design concepts, functionality, and usability.
- Material Selection: Recommend appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on product requirements and client needs.
- Testing and Iteration: Conduct testing on prototypes and iterate designs based on feedback and performance data.
- Client Advisory: Provide expert guidance to clients on their artwork, enhancing design quality and manufacturability.
- Trend Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends and integrate this knowledge into design proposals and client consultations.
- Problem Resolution: Address and resolve design or production issues efficiently, ensuring smooth progression from concept to final product.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews and adjustments to ensure all designs meet quality standards and client expectations.
- Project Management: Manage multiple design projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining high standards of quality.
Who you are:
You’re a confident and highly motivated Industrial Designer with outstanding communication and time management skills. You will have a background in product design and an in-depth knowledge of the end-to-end process of manufacturing. A self-starter who thrives on problem-solving and has a demonstrated ability to execute your role with autonomy, as well as collaborate within a close team environment.
With exceptional negotiation skills, you will have the ability to negotiate the best possible parameters for our projects and offer great support to the product team in providing a clear understanding of exactly what you require of them to deliver products in an efficient timely manner.

- Previous experience in a similar industrial design role – Preferably from a wholesale or direct to factory business - 3+ years.

- Strong offshore production experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and self-manage time effectively.
- An effective problem solver and negotiator.
