Access the National Relay Service
The purpose of this role is to provide information to victims of crime and victim support organisations, to assist victims to apply for financial assistance and offer victims referrals to relevant support agencies. Most work is done by phone.
Your key responsibilities
- Maintain a victim-centric approach while working within the parameters of the role and the larger organisation.
- Talk to victims of violent crime, their families and other stakeholders, primarily on the phone but at times in person, to:
a) provide accurate, clear and appropriate information to victims of crime and other stakeholders, including information about to apply for financial assistance under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
b) enable appropriate and effective referrals to enhance victim support.
c) explain the Charter of Victims' Rights and the complaint process.
- Navigate electronic case management systems to receive referrals and accurately record interactions with clients.
- Contribute and collaborate to improve team performance by sharing and implementing innovative ideas.
- Manage own self-care when working with people who have experienced trauma.

- Effectively manages rapid change or difficult questions in conversation.
- Completes workload within established timeframes and adjusts priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.

- Understands First Nations people's current and past interactions with government.
