About this exciting opportunity
AIMS are expanding our internal Infrastructure Program management team and are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Program Manager to lead the delivery of a capital works program which subject to funding availability is forecast to total approximately $400 million over the next five to 10 years. The Program Manager role leads a small project management team of approximately 4 staff with additional external consultant PM’s engaged on as required basis. The establishment of this team ensures the delivery of this complex portfolio of major infrastructure projects and provides a primary point of accountability for major project delivery and the establishment of standardised processes for project management and delivery for AIMS.
This role provides the oversight and management of AIMS Capital Works Program at all AIMS facilities in Townsville, Darwin and Perth. Your key accountabilities will include:
- Developing Capital Works Programs based on 1, 3, 5 and 10 year funding and renewal cycles.
- Leading and managing all phases of major capital works projects, including project conceptualisation, planning, design development, construction, and closeout. Ensuring timely delivery within budget, that risks are managed and quality standards are met.
- Strategic planning and governance in the development and implementation of policies, regulations, functions, process, and procedures and responsibilities that define the establishment, management and control of projects.
- Portfolio management, as well as developing and assessing project business cases for internal and departmental approvals, including leading funding grant opportunities and submissions.
- Implementing best practice and standardise systems across the projects for common reporting and accountability. Creating and managing project artefacts, archives and tool sets to improve visibility for better decision making.
About you
The role will suit a process driven individual to both review and update and oversee the systems and processes for the capital works project management team and their implementation across the AIMS Program of projects. Given the nature of the works being in operational scientific research facilities the role is ‘hands on’ and requires direct involvement and management of contractors and design teams. We are looking for a candidate who has:
- Lead a capital works project management office or team.
- Extensive experience in the management and delivery of Major Capital Works Programs, consisting of multiple projects at multiple sites, including contract management and procurement practices.
- Excellent leadership, planning and organisational skills, with the capacity to lead and motivate teams.
- Proven communication skills both written and verbal, paired with excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills. You will be well known for your ability to influence.
- Strong computer literacy, capability to use a range of project management and technical software packages.
- Goal orientated and driven personality.
- Integrity and honesty in all dealings.
