Position Purpose
Management and supervision of the Infrastructure Technicians to ensure all work carried out by them is:
- Completed safely;
- In accordance with KD and industry rules, procedures, and legislation;
- Completed by trained and/or under supervision of trained workers;
- Completed to a high standard of quality;
- Completed as efficiently as Safety of workers and quality of work come first; and
- Documented using the nominated KD information

Position Responsibilities
As the Infrastructure Team Leader you will be responsible for:
- Leading the Infrastructure Technician team in ensuring all planned and corrective maintenance is completed on the KD infrastructure assets;
- Day-to-day detailed planning for the Infrastructure Technicians, ensuring their schedule has as little downtime as practicable with enough variability in tasks to maintain mental engagement in the tasks at hand;
- Ensuring that Infrastructure Technician leave applications are reviewed in line with resourcing requirements so that the business always has available Infrastructure Technicians to complete planned and corrective maintenance activities;
- Ensuring that the team protect their own and others’ safety whilst working, and comply with all relevant industry and KD rules and procedures;
- Ensuring the Infrastructure Technician team has the correct small tools and equipment to complete their work and that the small tools and equipment are well looked after, maintained, and accounted for following a work shift;
- Leading the organisation of the monthly and weekly planned and corrective maintenance work requirements, working closely with the KD Inspectors team;
- Monitor the workload requirements of the Infrastructure Technician team and highlight any upcoming risks of not being able to meet planned work requirements with the Infrastructure Manager;
- Seeking out, proposing, and implementing improved methods of work and work organisation;
- Overseeing the quality of all internal work on KD infrastructure assets;
- Acting as the first line response on all Industrial Relations issues within the Infrastructure Technician team;
- Development and implementation of risk management activities as required and as per procedures;
- Being a backup Qualified Technical Person (QTP) for KDR Gold Coast Pty Ltd (if possible);
- Be on the On-Call Technical Managers roster; and
- Be able to attend emergencies out of hours, if available
- Work as a Rail Safety Worker Category 1 (safety critical worker);
- Essential Qualifications: Recognised apprenticeship/Cert III Engineering;
- Preferred: Infrastructure Technician experience;
- Other: Fist Aid Qualification; and
- Essential: Proven knowledge and experience of working in a complex safety-critical environment, preferably in the rail infrastructure industry.
- A highly self-motivated team player, with sound organisational skills;
- Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Customer-focused with the ability to inspire your team with commitment and enthusiasm;
- Able to identify and rectify problems and issues in a timely manner;
- Legally entitled to live and work in Australia;
- Able to supervise staff working on a wide ranged equipment and from diverse backgrounds;
- Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail; and
