Job Title: Intake and Administration Assistant - Molecular Pathology

Fixed Term Part Time Role
The Haematology Genomics service provides genetic counselling, genetic testing, and ongoing risk management to individuals and families with suspected or confirmed bone marrow failure syndromes and inherited predisposition to haematological malignancy.
This role is 30 hours per fortnight
The purpose of this role is to support the genetic counsellors and haematologists in preparing clinics. This may include processing referrals, booking appointments, obtaining medical records, gathering and recording personal and family histories, liaising with internal and external teams, data entry and general administrative tasks. This position involves working closely with the genetic counsellors and haematologists that are part of this clinic. It is an ideal position for a Master of Genetic Counselling student wishing to obtain experience in a new and developing area of genetics.
Victorian Department of Health has recently announced a program of reforms across the public pathology system in Victoria.
As part of these reforms, the pathology services from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women's Hospital and the Royal Children's Hospital will transition to a new separate public pathology entity. The new model for delivering public pathology services will present an exciting opportunity to improve the scope, scale and reach of pathology services and testing capability to all Victorians.
As this role is with Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the successful candidate for this role will be initially employed by Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Once the new public pathology entity is fully formed, which is anticipated to be in late 2024, this position and the successful candidate's employment (including terms and conditions of employment) will transition to the new public pathology entity.
