THE ROLE
The IT Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for ensuring seamless business operations by delivering exceptional technical support. This role is the go-to person for end users, providing 1st/2nd level support for everything from deployment of end user devices to troubleshooting complex technical/application issues. Effective communication with various stakeholders, coupled with an understanding of ITIL processes, will set the role holder up for success. Moreover, the role requires dedication to continuous improvement and providing an exceptional customer experience.
THE ROLE INVOLVES
The main responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:
- Act as a first point of contact from staff regarding IT issues and queries.
- Receive, log and manage requests from staff via Helpdesk portal.
- Use communication skills to identify & address customer needs while building a relationship and rapport with stakeholders.
- Provide Level 1/2 support - troubleshoot IT related problems, resolve network issues, patching of applications/computers, application support, Installation of hardware, software, printers and peripherals. Prioritise and respond promptly based on severity levels to needs of the business.
- Escalate unresolved incidents to IT Manager ANZ, IT team in the UK, or relevant external teams.
- Take ownership of problems and follow up the status of requests on behalf of the user and communicate progress in a timely manner.
- Maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to all SLAs.
- Build positive working relationships with team members, managers & all departments.
- A minimum of 2 years Desktop Support/Service Desk experience
- Experience managing/supporting Active Directory, O365, desktop applications.
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- A passion for building relationships, with strong written and oral communication skills to develop effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
- Strong knowledge of networking principles (DNS, DHCP, vlans, routing, wireless)
- Highly self-motivated with an analytical outlook and strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise mature judgment.
- Knowledge of cyber security principles
- Previous experience in warehousing/retail advantageous
