McArthur is seeking an IT Helpdesk Officer to deliver frontline technical support and provide strategic insights to meet the IT needs of the council.
Reporting to the Network and Systems Administrator, this position will help to manage and maintain the IT Helpdesk, ensuring a first-class level of customer service and support for both internal stakeholders and external suppliers. This is a 3-month opportunity, offering full-time hours on a casual basis.
You will be technically fluent and can translate IT concepts into simpler terms for training users, have strong communication skills and an ability to work under pressure. This position will involve software, hardware and network troubleshooting, the installation and maintenance of new equipment, and other administrative duties as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a professional, friendly, and customer-oriented approach at all times.
- Triage IT Helpdesk requests, allocating requests, as appropriate, between team members.
- Order, Install and retire workstation hardware, under the supervision of the Network and Systems Administrator.
- Install new, and upgrade existing desktop software systems, as well as maintain existing desktop software.
- Translate IT concepts into simpler terms for training and onboarding assistance.
- Maintain registers for both hardware and users, ensuring these are current.
Key Criteria:
- Knowledge of network topologies, LAN/WAN, and the use of TCP/IP protocol.
- Highly developed competency with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated experience In IT helpdesk, IT administration or Level 1 support.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, with the ability to prioritise multiple requests and meet deadlines.
- A minimum of Certificate IV in Information Technology, or equivalent education, training, or professional experience.
